I migrated from a local hosting provider that was not regularly maintaining their servers to FreeParking. Dealing with them was a nightmare. The support person on the phone is friendly but lacks expertise and on multiple occasions just over speced what I needed and at costs that were very high. I loaded numerous tickets about slow site performance but they never resolved this besides wanting to sell me more expensive options. I then did a search and came across VPS City. When I initially signed up for hoisting the platform I choose the Essential package, which didn't work for our developer and we had to change to the Enhanced level, this upgrade was also effortless to do. We switched over from our previous provider on Friday, which could not have ended up being a worse day for me, I had completely overlooked until late in the week that I was out of the office and in Auckland for the day. Sam though was able to complete everything and by jumping on my laptop while I was in meetings, was able to re-provision and set up all the existing phones that I was meant to do. It all went very smoothly, I was not aware of any down time for any of the users, or the 0800 numbers, and the annoying beeping we had in the background of all phone calls disappeared as soon as we changed over. VPS City were recommended to me and they've exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I was initially attracted by low prices that seemed too good to be true, but I'm staying because of the awesome server performance and what seems like near instantaneous 24/7 support, even when it's not their network that's broken.

Take this morning for example, customers were ringing me right, left and centre because their sites were down. A little probing on my part revealed a problem with Telecom connections only. Tarquin spent the morning kicking Telecom about until they sorted out their own internal very broken proxy/cache server which had lost the plot. Service restored and customers happy again.

I've recently setup a couple sites on your shared services. Both going well and especially delighted with the response and feedback provided by your key support guru Tarquin Douglass. This guy really know his stuff and I always come away having learnt something. This is the opposite we find with most hosts (local and offshore) where I end up with the impression that they actually know way less than I do, which is a big worry, since I'm no sysadmin. My last serious Linux work was done in the 90s setting up Sun boxes and I didn't enjoy it that much as the hardware, applications or network side.

However we've a client who recently went down the Amazon EC2 cloud route, much to my dismay. Their relationship with their local IT/Cisco provider was just too strong and emotion overruled logic, as often happens when it comes to clients wanting to take charge of technology and their own destiny. I wrote about my Amazon experience on my blog. Sent a link to Tarquin, but suspect he's busy doing real work as opposed to listing to the rants of an old engineer. I decided to get a VPS with 247hosting instead of you guys because their site looked more professional (no offense), but after 4 hours they hadn't set up my server even when they said it would be a 30min setup, and they didn't respond to my tickets so I asked for a refund and went with you guys - I was over the moon when my server was available immediately.

Ok Guys, pretty good, but.... these late fees are stacking up for a 7 day invoice, I'd prefer I had to pay for the product in advance (whilst ordering) then an invoice that sits for an additional $4 for being over date. Understand the tactics though, just a bit of surprise. Be good to setup an account and get 20th of the month.. which I'll pursue.. ;-)

I am running a standard VPS (Debian). It is basically a good machine. We had a wee bit trouble to get it running because the image contained a bug, which was resolved very swiftly. I have to say that the support centre is really great. Cheers Helge

Love your easy to read invoices and the reminders you automatically generate. Your response time when I have a question is speedy and easy to understand. Consistent hosting with no dropouts. Your website is sooooooo not good to use on my i6 or iPad - which makes life difficulty when I need to log in etc. I generally move from non mobile responsive sites and I'm sure many others so as well.

In response to this review, The clients IP address was blacklisted due to spamming and thus is not related to our service or support. Absolutely the worst payment information ever. Credit card in there 3 months still sends out overdue notices !!! Grrrr
In response to this review, default payment method was not selected as Credit Card for overdue invoices. Automation script sent overdue notices via email.

Response only after 12 hours is too long when website is down, I have had responses to minor issues within 5 minutes. Support staff surprised that ticket was opened although website was down.
